But the dungeon fun doesn’t just end there, as Twilight Princess features some excellent puzzles that challenge you mentally. I don’t want to give anything away puzzle-wise, but rest assured, you’ll be encountering some head-scratchingly hard ones along the way. And whilst they are tedious in that respect, completing them gives you a major sense of accomplishment. After you complete a puzzle, you’ll realize just how interesting they actually were to solve. And even when solving the puzzles, you are likely to encounter Zelda’s famous boss battles, which are just as enthralling and exhilarating as they ever were.
Of course, what would Zelda be without an outstanding musical score? For one thing, it certainly wouldn’t be as epic. The first time you step out into Hyrule field, you’ll experience a bellowing orchestral score, and it is just incredible to hear. Whilst Twilight Princess doesn’t reach the standards for music set by Ocarina of Time, it still does pretty darn well.
Graphically, it has to be taken into account that Twilight Princess is a straight Gamecube port. It does not by any means indicate the actual power of the Wii. Having said that, the game looks really lush when fixed up to a component cable. Colors are vibrant, and although the game has a lot of muddy, low-resolution textures, it masks these with the sheer beauty of art. Characters however, are really good looking, and there are some pretty neat particle effects from magic. It isn’t going to be eye pleasing for those who are used to sparkling high-definition, but it is a decent looking game nonetheless.
Although Twilight Princess may not reach the level set by Ocarina of Time that some may argue, it is still is one of the best games I have ever had the privilege of playing. Just about everything is beyond excellent. The gameplay is so intuitive and fun, that playing Twilight Princess is almost like heaven on-screen. And although I had doubts about the control system, Twilight Princess allows freedom like never before in Hyrule. Bottom line? Believe the hype, Twilight Princess is absolutely incredible.
