Specific to the Wii, and something that seems very cool, is the item crafting feature for armor, weapons, and items. It aught to be very interesting to see how it comes together, given that Wii-specific features will take full advantage of the Wii-mote controller scheme. Added to this, combat will feature projectile and melee combat that will also be controlled using the Wii-mote (duh), but how melee/projectile combat is controlled with the Wii-mote was not disclosed.

On the plus side, Alien Syndrome’s combat system will have a heavy focus on ranged attacks, which can be utilized with some of the 20 weapons. Many of the alien busting artillery will cater toward precision aiming, rather than the hack and slash content most top-down action games are known for. Enemies that fire at players will require players to dodge and exercise extreme caution during combat. The developers wanted players to avoid being slaughtered by mass amounts of incoming fire, and that’s why there’s a bit of strategy involved with this isometric RPG-shooter. And like standard RPGs, after dispatching enemies, players will be rewarded with experience points and the standard “gold coin” used to purchase upgrades, or enhancements.

But what’s a new game on any next-gen console that doesn’t support multiplayer? It’s nothing more than bargain-bin bait. That’s why Sega and Totally Games have implemented a multiplayer mode for both the PSP and Wii versions of the game. For the PSP gamer, they will have the Wi-Fi connection that will allow them to play with up to three other players. As for Wii gamers, there will be the solid single-player mode available for up to four-player cooperativeness. Sadly, right now it appears this multiplayer feature will only be available on one console for the Wii. Both versions of the game will be available on July 31, 2007.
